1. No Continuity of the Ring Circuit
A ring circuit should form a complete loop back to the consumer unit. However, in this case, there was a break somewhere in the circuit. This meant some sockets were not safely connected, causing potential overloads and fire hazards.
2. No CPC (Earth Wire) in the Lighting Circuit
Even more concerning was the fact that the property’s lighting circuit had no CPC (Circuit Protective Conductor). This is a major safety risk, especially since the home had metal light fittings. Without an earth connection, these fittings could become live if a fault occurs, increasing the risk of electric shock.
3. No Earths Connected to Sockets
Some of the sockets had no earth connection at all. This is incredibly dangerous, particularly if the homeowner planned to use appliances with metal casings. Any fault in an appliance could result in the socket becoming live, creating a serious risk of electrocution.
