We recently completed a small lighting upgrade in a utility room in Arlington, replacing an old fluorescent strip light with 3 modern LED downlights to give the space a much cleaner, brighter and more modern finish.
One of the challenges with this installation was the textured ceiling finish. Rather than cutting random access holes that would later need filling and decorating, we used a much cleaner method.
We carefully cut a precise 100mm access hole, then marked and numbered the cut-out section so it could be reinstalled back into the exact same position afterwards. This helps keep the ceiling looking neat and minimises visible repair work once completed.
By numbering and aligning the piece correctly, the section fits back almost perfectly into place after the cable routing is completed.
This method is ideal when working in finished homes where customers want disruption and redecorating kept to a minimum.
The final result was a much brighter utility area with evenly spaced LED downlights and a far more modern appearance compared to the original single strip light.
